We drank a lot of coffee trying to find the perfect supplier for us. We wanted a supplier who sourced ethically and ensured the best premiums direct to the growers. We are delighted with our supplier, River Coffee Roasters, a family run business just down the road from us in Winchester, Hampshire. River Coffee Roasters are on a mission to source, roast and supply unique and exquisite coffees from real people and communities . Through direct relationships with producers River Coffee Roasters are able to ensure that the quality premiums they pay end up directly back in the hands of the producer. For the van we have selected a special Drift Motion Blend, a medium blend comprising 50% Brazilian (Ametista), 30% Peruvian (Chancamayo) and 20% Colombian (Medellin) beans. It’s not only exceptional coffee that gets us up in the morning. We have taken our time to select top quality suppliers for all the products we serve in Nellie. Our tea is from Teapigs, it is real, quality tea that is sourced sustainably in environmentally friendly packaging using tasty, real ingredients. We get our cakes & pastries from Debaere Bakery in Greenford, London, a wholesale bakers who make the most delicious baked goods, the fruity flapjack tray bake is a particular favourite of John’s. We get our dairy milk from Northiam Dairy based in Rye Sussex, a small farm who provide good quality milk and have specialist training from baristas to ensure the milk is perfect for coffee. We also cater for all dietary requirements and offer oat, soy and almond milk as an alternative to dairy milk and we serve a delicious range of home baked vegan (and some gluten free) cakes and pastries supplied by The Witches’ Kitchen in Woodcote, Oxfordshire. Whatever you choose from Nellie, you can rest assured that it has been hand picked and personally tasted by us first!
we care about our planet
We use Naturepac cups for our hot drinks, these cups are made from plants! and are fully compostable and recyclable. These cups are a sustainable alternative to traditional disposable cups. These cups will fully decompose as plant waste after 12 weeks. We also use Naturepac hot lids made from PLA which are compostable biodegradable plant-based polymers made from starch derived from renewable resources such as corn, sugarcane, or cassava. Our napkins are made from 100% recycled paper and are also compostable and biodegradeable!
Did you know that coffee grounds are a great fertiliser for your plants. When you see us please feel free to take home a scoop of our left over coffee grounds for your garden, found on our serving counter!
